Here it’s but a short step from landscape to larder, so much of the good served in Causeway Coast and Glens will have been raised, caught or grown locally. 

Traditional recipes are very much to the fore, but expect the region’s accomplished chefs to serve them up with their own contemporary twists.  Good food isn’t confined to up-market restaurants, although the region is rich in those.  You’ll find great fabulous gastro pubs, coffee shops and cafes delivering excellent food at surprising prices... and look out for the region’s Home Bakeries with their mouth-watering traditional breads and cakes.  As for pub culture... Well, we invented it!

For four hundred years (King James I granted the original license in April 1608) Bushmills has been making the finest Irish Malt Whiskey, making The 'Old Bushmills' Distillery Ireland’s Oldest Licensed Whiskey Distillery. The Distillery is one of our top attractions (no surprise there!) and its amber nectar is not only a much-loved legend, but these days also a style conscious brand of international repute!

We might just hint however that we have Ireland’s tiniest church and the country’s oldest thatched pub, not to mention Ireland’s oldest licensed whiskey distillery.  We also have spectacular waterfalls in hidden glens, places where limestone rocks have preserved fabulous fossils, art deco pubs, village stores largely  unchanged over generations and lots more... but you’ll have to come here to discover them for yourself!

Don’t expect to limit yourself to tea or coffee – the average proprietor will be downright insulted if you don’t succumb to some of the goodies on offer!    We take pride in our stunning array of baked goods, from mouth-watering scones, breads and farls to traditional cakes, biscuits and ‘traybakes’ (temptingly diverse sweet concoctions, lovingly baked on flat trays, then sliced). You’ve been warned, it’s all dangerously more-ish!
