Getting into - or onto - the water couldn’t be easier. Public slipways and jetties are plentiful and the region is particularly well served with equipped modern marinas. As well as providing year-round bases for local sailing enthusiasts, those marinas cater for visitors with excellent private and public facilities.
Many of our visitors arrive by sea and there is brisk traffic between here and Scotland …. not altogether surprising when you realise that (at least on a clear day) you can see Scotland on our horizon!
Our marinas are all visitor attractions in themselves, with walkways and promenades encouraging ‘landlubbers’ to enjoy the view, admire the craft in port and perhaps enjoy a drink or a meal close by. Most are venues for annual regattas and races and clubhouses offer varied social programmes.
While some facilities and events are ‘members only’, visitors will find a genuinely warm welcome. There are countless opportunities for ‘have a go’ experiences, training courses and extensive Sailability opportunities for disabled visitors plus challenging competitions for experienced sailors.
