Norther Ireland Road Racing
The home of Irish road racing

The region is home to two world famous international road races, the North West 200 and the Ulster Grand Prix. These are more than sporting sensations, they are a festival for the entire family.

The region’s road racing heritage was cemented with the Armoy Armada which was established in 1977 by Frank Kennedy, Jim Dunlop, Mervyn Robinson and the local road racing legend Joey Dunlop. His achievements include three hat-tricks at the Isle of Man TT where he won 26 races in total; he won the Ulster Grand Prix 24 times and, in 1986, he won a fifth consecutive Formula One world title.

The  Dunlop Memorial Gardens and nearby museum in Ballymoney have become points of pilgrimage for people from around the world who marvel at the skill, commitment and courage which are synonymous with success in this tough sport.

Mid Antrim Road Race - 15/16 June 2012

For many years visitors have been supporting our race in large numbers. The same can be said of competitors who return year after year to take on the curves, twists and jumps of the 3.5 mile circuit located just a few miles from the bustling town of Ballymena (less than 45
minutes from Belfast and Larne ferry ports or either of the main airports, Belfast City and Belfast International).
The Mid Antrim Motor Club Motorcycle Road Racing Section look forward to seeing you at the Mid Antrim 150 (15th June practice and qualifying, 16th June Race Day).

Armoy Race of Legends - 27/28 July 2012

Now in its fourth year, the race has gained the respect of riders as a first class venue to show off their skills. As the likes of William and Michael Dunlop, descendants of the legendary “Armoy Armada”, blast their way around their home circuit, spectators are treated to sights and sounds reminiscent of the times when the ‘sleepy little village’ was the stomping ground for those other, never to be forgotten, racing heroes. At this year’s race, it is anticipated that more top class riders will be attracted to Armoy testing the circuit and its riders to the limit.

Ulster Grand Prix - 6-11 August 2012

The Dundrod Circuit is situated high in the hills overlooking Belfast and Lisburn, just a 10 minute journey from both historic cities. The circuit layout hasn’t changed since it was a World Championship event when the likes of Hailwood, Agostini and in later years Joey Dunlop entertained the thousands around the 7.4 mile circuit. For 51 weeks of the year the circuit is a normal highway but for that one week in August it is a full blown race circuit, over the past ten years a lot of the hedges on corners etc. have been removed giving good safe run off areas, thus making it a real scratcher's circuit.
The circuit is a fast flowing circuit that has everything, and in fact a lot of the pure road racers have voted it to be their favourite road race circuit. There are many excellent vantage points around the circuit, with grandstand seating, big screens with live coverage from a helicopter, good food and toilet/shower facilities. So if you make that first trip to Dundrod, we can guarantee you will not be disappointed.
