Rathlin Island Ferry Ltd

Ballycastle

Rathlin Island lies six miles off the Antrim coast and is the most northerly island in Ireland. Inhabited since the Mesolithic Age, about 6000BC, there are standing stones, ancient Christian sites and famine dwellings across the island. In 1898, Guglielmo Marconi sent the world’s first commercial wireless radio signals from the East Lighthouse to Ballycastle.

The Royal Society for the Protection of Birds ensures the survival of a huge bird colony. Look out for thousands of seabirds along the coast. Puffins, razorbills, guillemots and kittwakes are only four of thirty species on Rathlin. Take a walk along the shore road and watch the seals. Daily sailings from Ballycastle, weather permitting.
NOTE: Booking is advisable, especially in summer months.
