Mid-Antrim Museum at the Braid
Ballymena
Description:
The Mid-Antrim Museum offers a fascinating experience for all the family. The museum boasts two large state of the art exhibition galleries. In the history gallery the story of the mid-Antrim area and its people is presented in a thoroughly contemporary way.
The displays, including sound narratives for adults and interactive displays for children, are designed to allow the visitor to acquire a greater understanding of the relationship between local and national history. Themes covered include settlement & change, commerce & industry, living off the land and politics & conflict.
The current exhibition in the temporary gallery entitled ‘Legends in the Landscape’ brings together, for the first time, legends and folk stories from the mid-Antrim area. The visitor can discover, amongst other stories, of the local ‘gateway to hell’ and hear tales about the headless horseman. Admission is free.
We are located at the junction of Linen Hall Street and Bridge Street, below the Town Hall.
